(Minneapolis, MN) — Police do not believe the mother of three children who died in a north Minneapolis house fire was home at the time of the fire. In his report on the October 3rd incident, Sergeant Sean McKenna indicates 26-year-old Taneisha Stewart showed no signs of having been inside the burning dwelling and was not exhibiting any signs of smoke inhalation. And an investigator on the scene stated Stewart appeared to have been drinking. Police have said it appears the fire started in the kitchen from an oven that was turned on to heat the home. McKenna concludes the lack of a competent adult in the home with the three sleeping children was a factor in their deaths.
