An attorney for the woman whose two dogs were shot by Minneapolis police says Officer Michael Mays should be prosecuted and disciplined “up to and including termination” for allegedly filing a false report about the incident — reports the Star Tribune. Mays shot the dogs while responding to a burglary call Saturday night in north Minneapolis and the police report states “two large size pitbulls charged at officer.” But the animals’ owner, Jennifer LeMay, says the first dog shot was wagging its tail and wasn’t even moving or lunging toward the officer. Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau said there would be an internal investigation and officers will get training on how to handle encounters with dogs.
