The state Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of a blaze that destroyed the Farmers Grain Elevator in the northwest Minnnesota community of Kennedy. Fire Chief Aaron Kirkeby says by the time his department was called early this morning, the fire had escalated to the point the building couldn’t be saved.   There have been no reports of any injuries.

Kirkeby says it appears the fire started in the lower section of the main grain elevator. A dozen departments fought the blaze. Sparks were floating all over town and crews sprayed down homes and businesses with water to prevent the fire from spreading.
