Leaders of Minnesota’s Muslim community are critical of Israel’s decision to bar Congresswoman Ilhan Omar from an official visit to that nation. President Trump tweeted earlier “it would show great weakness” if Israel allowed Omar and a Michigan congresswoman to visit because “They hate Israel & all Jewish people.” Jaylani Hussein with the Council on American Islamic Relations Minnesota responds, “In this he’s doubling-down on his anti-Muslim rhetoric and so-called anti-Semitism, which in this case he’s actually played into much more anti-Semitism than anyone else.”
But Minnesota Republican Party Chair Jennifer Carnahan supports Israel’s decision, saying Omar has embarrassed Minnesota and the U-S with repeated attacks on America’s strongest ally in the Middle East.
