State health officials say a new strain of norovirus — commonly known as “stomach flu” — has hit Minnesota just in time for holiday gatherings. Minnesota Health Department epidemiologist Amy Saupe says it spreads easily, so if you’re ill, stay home from that potluck. She says use it as an excuse not to see the family for that day, or at the very least buy food from the store instead of prepping it in your home. Symptoms generally last one or two days, but Saupe says someone who has norovirus should wait several days after they feel better before preparing food for anyone else.
