No charges against Richfield, Edina officers in September 7th fatal shooting of suspect with knife

February 10, 2020 By Bill Werner

Hennepin County prosecutors say they will *not* file charges against Richfield or Edina police officers in the September 7th fatal shooting of Brian Quinones-Rosario. Investigators say Quinones was driving erratically and, when police stopped him after a chase, he pointed a knife in the direction of an officer. They say attempts to taser Quinones were unsuccessful and he then ran at an officer with his knife, screaming “Kill me, kill me.” Authorities say multiple shots were fired as Quinones threatened other officers with the knife. He died at the scene. Toxicology tests showed the suspect was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
