Sunday’s midnight deadline is pushing state lawmakers hard as legislative leaders continue budget talks at the Minnesota Capitol. A bonding bill for state construction projects failed Thursday afternoon in the Republican-controlled Minnesota House — the same problem Senate Democrats had with their bill two weeks ago. While negotiators try to work out a compromise on bonding, it appears legislative leaders are trying to work out a deal on tax cuts, with Republicans pushing for much broader measures than Democrats. Meanwhile talks on a transportation funding package remain deadlocked.
