No fans at Target Field for start of Twins’ season, but alternative plan being developed

June 30, 2020 By Bill Werner

Twins President Dave Saint Peter says fans will *not* be allowed in the Target Field stands at the start of Major League Baseball’s abbreviated 2020 season — and what happens after that is up to Governor Tim Walz and the state Health Department. Saint Peter says the Twins are developing two plans — one with no fans, but also one where fans would be re-introduced. “That protocol clearly will be shared at the appropriate time with the Governor’s Office for their review,” Saint Peter says. “I wouldn’t put a time line on it — I’m not sure it will happen — but it’s something we’re monitoring around the League, certainly in a lot of discussions with the Commissioner’s office about it, as well as Governor Walz.”

Players are reporting to “summer camp” this week in Minneapolis to get ready for the season, which will start either July 23rd or July 24th. The schedule of games is expected sometime this week.
