Transportation projects get no new money after session adjourns
The Minnesota Legislature adjourned its 2016 session at midnight with no long-term funding plan for transportation projects, even though lawmakers on both sides of the aisle said from the get-go it was one of their top priorities.

Democratic Senator Scott Dibble from Minneapolis, a strong advocate for transportation funding, says it was a big issue in the last election and a lot of people made promises — and the lack of action will be noticed by voters when they go to the polls this November. Lawmakers couldn’t pass additional short-term funding for transportation either.
A provision was included in a bonding package, but that bill died because of disagreement and confusion over a measure dealing with the Southwest Light Rail Line in the metro area.
