A jury has found a North Dakota man *not* guilty of helping his former girlfriend kill 22-year-old Savanna Greywind. 33-year-old William Hoehn was accused of tightening a rope around Greywind’s neck after Brooke Crews cut the baby from her womb, but the coroner couldn’t determine if Greywind died from strangulation or blood loss. Hoehn pleaded guilty earlier to kidnapping and other charges with a possible sentence of 21 years, and prosecutor Leah Viste says, “We have ordered a pre-sentence investigation in this case, so upon getting all of that information I think we’d have a better basis to make that determination, but I do believe we’d be asking for something on the high end.”
Hoehn’s attorney and members of the Greywind family declined to comment on the verdict. Crews admitted to the crime and is serving life in prison without possibility of parole.
