Dignitaries are on hand in Nicollet in south-central Minnesota this morning to celebrate a major upgrade of Highway 14 between that community and North Mankato. The nine-and-a-half-mile stretch is now four lanes, including a grade-separated interchange south of Nicollet to improve safety. MN-DOT project manager Zachary Tess says, “It does have more heavy commercial vehicles on it, and so we recognize that, and it’s important to inter-regional trade function.”
Highway 111 now goes over Highway with roundabout ramp terminals for connection. Tess says it’s a much safer intersection than was previously there. The project cost just under 32 million dollars. Highway 14 is a major east-west route in southern Minnesota and officials continue pushing for further upgrades.
