Officials release video of police chase in Mpls that left 3 kids injured

December 4, 2018 By Scott Peterson

The Minnesota State Patrol today released video of a pursuit last June in Minneapolis that led troopers through residential neighborhoods, ending in a city playground and injuring three children. Two of the children were seriously injured.  Powell–who did not have a valid driver’s license–pleaded guilty to two charges and was sentenced in August to 33 months in prison. Colonel Langer says the officers involved acted within policy guidelines during the chase. Minnesota public safety and law enforcement officials are reviewing their policies on police chases and Colonel Lang says “the number of pursuits in Minnesota has climbed dramatically since 2010, as reported to the BCA, we’ve seen a 172% increase in the number of pursuits statewide.”
