FEMA federal teams continue assessing flood and storm damage in Minnesota, and state Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Joe Kelly is urging everyone — whether units of government, individuals or businesses — to report all damage. He says, “Contact your city, county, tribal emergency management director and say, ‘My name is Joe Kelly, I live at 123 Oak Street and our basement flooded, and it looks like we’ve lost our furnace and we’re gonna have to replace the carpet.'”
It’s expected Governor Mark Dayton will request a major disaster declaration. If granted, it would bring federal help to repair public infrastructure. Any decision on assistance to individuals could come later.
