One young child is dead but authorities say a second child is expected to survive after they both fell Thursday afternoon from an upper story of an apartment building along the Midtown Greenway in south-central Minneapolis. Police say workers in the area saw the children fall, called 9-1-1 and provided immediate aid until officers and paramedics took over. Authorities say the children appear to be under four years of age and were under the care of “what was believed to be a responsible adult” when they fell. A police department spokesman is urging residents to be aware of hazards that open windows pose to young children and vulnerable people.
