Opponents of Enbridge Line 3 pipeline gather in Mpls, vow to continue fight

December 21, 2020 By Bill Werner

Opponents of Enbridge’s Line 3 gathered on the Lake Street Bridge Sunday afternoon, 150 miles down the Mississippi from where crews are preparing to drill under the river for that new pipeline. Andy Pearson with MN350 says they’re standing in solidarity with “water protectors” in the area of Palisade who are committed to protecting Minnesota’s climate and communities after what he calls the Walz administration’s “dismal failure.” Protesters are also calling on President-elect Joe Biden to speak out against Line 3 like he committed to stop the Keystone X-L pipeline.

Supporters of Line 3 say the pipeline project has had rigorous scrutiny by state agencies and survived numerous challenges in the courts. Some of those are still in process.
