Opponents of Enbridge’s Line 3 pipeline held a water ceremony and prayed in the Governor’s Reception Room at the State Capitol this afternoon, as Tuesday’s deadline approaches for Governor Tim Walz to decide whether he’ll continue predecessor Mark Dayton’s legal challenge. The Reverend Curtiss DeYoung with the Minnesota Council of Churches says, “We need to stop Line 3. Today we call upon the governor and the lieutenant governor to make history, to stop Line 3, to be water protectors.”
Meanwhile a group of top Republican lawmakers, headed by Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka and House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt, are calling on the governor to allow the Line 3 upgrade to move forward.
