A bill to put statewide regulations on services like Uber and Lyft is moving forward in the Republican-controlled Minnesota House, over objections of Teamsters’ spokesman Edward Reynoso who warns of “such an unfair competitive advantage that it will virtually eliminate the rest of the competitors that Uber and Lyft have — specifically the taxi industry.” Matt Patton with Lyft responds similar regulations have not destroyed the taxi industry in other states. Patton says, “This bill in no way changes any taxi regulations. There is no statewide taxi regulation for this to compete with. The taxi industry is welcome to introduce their own… legislation that would level the playing field as they allege.”
