A man from Orono has pleaded guilty to driving drunk at nearly 100 miles an hour when his Bentley crashed on a Lake Minnetonka road last summer, killing two passengers including the son of Gophers men’s hockey coach Bob Motzko. 52-year-old James Blue was to go on trial in two weeks, but accepted prosecutors’ offer of a seven-and-a-half-year sentence on two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, with two counts of third-degree murder to be dismissed. 24-year-old Sam Schuneman was dead at the scene and 20-year-old Mack Motzko died later at the hospital. Investigators say witnesses at a party at Blue’s home told officers he was taking shots of alcohol and had eaten T-H-C gummies, which hospital staff found in his pocket along with crushed-up white pills and green capsules. His blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit.
