A bill setting up a paid family and medical leave program for all Minnesota workers is moving ahead at the State Capitol after clearing a key committee Wednesday afternoon on a party-line vote. Governor Tim Walz supports it saying, “I believe it’s really important. I just think it’s part of improving economic security for families.”
Walz says he will be “pretty committed” to make it happen. The program would require contributions from employees as well as employers, which Republicans warn could squelch job creation in Minnesota.
