Patty Wetterling is responding to court documents filed by her son Jacob’s killer, before Danny Heinrich is sentenced Monday in federal court. That filing states Heinrich regretted taking Jacob’s life and tried to think of how he could reveal the location of the boy’s remains without incriminating himself. In a statement Friday, Patty Wetterling responded she’s glad to hear that Heinrich “feels some remorse” — but says for him “to state that he never had any intention to commit this heinous crime is ludicrous.” Wetterling says Heinrich went hunting for boys that night in October 1989, bringing a gun and bullets with him.
