Daniel Heinrich
An Annandale man identified as a “person of interest” in the 1989 abduction of Jacob Wetterling is back in court today. 53-year-old Daniel Heinrich has pled not guilty to 25 federal charges that he possessed and received child pornography.
During a search of Heinrich’s home last summer, US Attorney Andrew Luger investigators found “nineteen three ring binders filled with images of children, including images of naked prepubescent boys. Some of these binders included images of known children of sexual exploitation.”
Luger says “none of the images found were that of Wetterling.” Today, attorney’s for Heinrich are expected to argue for a change of venue out-of-state, saying the public announcement of him as a “person of interest” in the Wetterling case taints a jury pool. Heinrich is scheduled to go on trial July 11th in Minneapolis.
