The man identified as a “person of interest in” the Jacob Wetterling case is due in federal court in St. Paul today. 52-year-old Daniel Heinrich of Annandale is charged with multiple federal charges of possessing and receiving child pornography. DNA also links Heinrich to the kidnapping and sexual assault of a Cold Spring boy in January of 1989, but charges in that case can’t be filed due to the statute of limitations. Heinrich is expected to plead not guilty to the child pornography charges. He has not been charged in the Wetterling case.
