Peterson won’t play on Sunday

August 26, 2016 By Minnesota News Network

The Minnesota Vikings will host the San Diego Chargers in their home opener at U-S Bank Stadium on Sunday at noon.  Star running back Adrian Peterson has chosen to sit out the preseason slate this year and will not play in the game.

Peterson says he considered playing in the game to get some work in, but ultimately didn’t feel like it was worth the risk of injury in an exhibition game:

Peterson says he knows some fans would want to watch him on Sunday:

Peterson says the decision to not play was between him and head coach Mike Zimmer:

Minnesota is 2-and-0 so far following last Thursday’s 18-11 win in Seattle.
