Philando Feeds the Children at JJ Hill today to pay for school lunches (AUDIO)

The group “Philando Feeds the Children” will present its first check to the students of J-J Hill Montessori School today (noon). The online fundraiser to help pay for school lunches was set up by Inver Hills Community College Professor Pam Fergus after she met Philando Castile’s mother Valerie she made a promise “in my head and heart to try to help her do something memorializing her son. This just felt like something to do since he was really dedicated to providing great nutrition for elementary aged school kids. Philando Castile worked as a cafeteria supervisor at J-J Hill. The original goal was to raise to raise $5000, but Fergus says more than $71,000 has been raised and will help pay for school lunches throughout the St. Paul school district. Valerie and other Castile family members are expected to attend today’s event. Here’s MNN’s Scott Peterson’s chat with Pam Fergus.
