Planned Parenthood applauds SCOTUS decision on Medicaid funding, MCCL disappointed

December 11, 2018 By Bill Werner

Planned Parenthood North Central States is declaring victory after the U-S Supreme Court refused to review lower court rulings that prevented two states (Kansas and Louisiana) from cutting off Medicaid money to Planned Parenthood providers. C-E-O Sarah Stoesz says even though the new Supreme Court remains very conservative, it’s “welcome news for our patients and our mission.”

Bill Poehler with Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life calls the Supreme Court’s decision “very disappointing”.  He says, “We don’t believe that Planned Parenthood or any other group has an absolute right to funding, and so we would like to see states be given broad latitude in how they apply Medicaid funds.”
