The Saint Paul police officers union is looking into whether legal action is possible against the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) for a new smartphone app that notifies subscribers of in-progress police actions, so they can witness whether civil rights are being violated. David Titus (TY-tus) with the Saint Paul Police Federation warns an incident could still be a hostile and a very dangerous situation where they want onlookers to leave, not arrive. Titus adds pictures of victims could end up on social media, and witnesses could “clam-up” for the same reason. A-C-L-U Minnesota attorney Teresa Nelson says what police union officials are concerned about just hasn’t happened in other states.
