The Saint Paul police union is objecting to prosecutors dropping felony charges against a man who answered his door, gun drawn, when police officers knocked last January. Asad Ibrahim quickly dropped the weapon, put up his hands and was arrested without incident. The Saint Paul Pioneer Press reports the man is a Texas resident with a permit to carry in that state, and wrote in an apology letter to the officers that he “was scared it was robbers on the other side of the door.” But Police Federation officials say Ibrahim’s actions were very dangerous and the situation was very close to having deadly consequences.
