Political drama in Minnesota, Texas cues up Super Tuesday

March 3, 2020 By Bill Werner

It’s Super Tuesday in Minnesota after a politically-charged night in Saint Paul and Dallas. Bernie Sanders told a crowd of over eight-thousand at the Twin Cities’ Rivercentre, he’s opening the door to supporters of Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg after they dropped out of the race. “There are political differences, but I also know that virtually all of Amy’s support and Pete’s support understand that we have got to move toward a government which believes in justice, not greed.” Sanders repeatedly singled out President Donald Trump saying, “You’re gonna learn what democracy is about next November… because the American people are gonna throw you out of office!” And he told the cheering crowd, “If I’m the Democratic candidate here in Minnesota, 2020 the election will not be close. We’ll blow ’em away!”

At the exact moment Sanders was making his pitch in Saint Paul, Klobuchar was in Dallas, throwing her support to Sanders’ rival, Joe Biden. “If we spend the next four months… going at each other, we will spend the next four years watching Donald Trump tear apart this country,” she told the Texas crowd. And Klobuchar choked back tears when she said about her former rival, “Joe knows you and he will fight for you. So I cannot think of a better way to end my campaign than joining his.” Biden responded Klobuchar knows how to get things done: “That’s why Amy has never lost, and she’s not losing now. You’re gonna hear a lot from Amy Klobuchar for a long, long time.”
