Positive first step in GOP transportation offer
A very small, positive first step, says House Democratic Leader Paul Thissen about GOP transportation offer for funding state roads and
bridges that includes an increase in license tab fees. But Thissen says new revenue in their proposal is still insufficient. Thissen says, “The math doesn’t add up to actually solve the problem. To rely on borrowing money, instead of actually putting new revenues, is a short-term solution that’s gonna bite us in the end.” Thissen warns Republicans’ offer will still starve schools to fund roads and bridges.
Governor Mark Dayton and legislative leaders are meeting this afternoon as they continue trying to hammer out an agreement to wrap up the legislative session.
