As the election results continue to settle in, some of us may be feeling afraid or angry.
Emily Ross is a mental health therapist at Park Nicollet and she says if we want to decrease stress, we should distract ourselves with things like exercise and meditation and “you might also want to avoid calling ‘Uncle Dave’ if he’s going to be fired up and going off about why you voted for the wrong person, so to know what your emotional triggers are and make a plan for how to manage them.”
Ross says it’s not uncommon for people to be feeling despair and loss after an election like this one…
Ross also recommends parents be positive role models to their children and show “appropriate responses to adversity” if their candidate or candidates didn’t win.
