One of four Halloween stamps USPS will issue in Anoka
The U-S Postal Service has chosen Anoka to host first-day-of-issue ceremonies for this year’s Halloween stamps, a series of four Jack-O’-Lantern images. The central Minnesota city bills itself as Halloween Capital of the World, and promoter Bart Ward contends Anoka has a leg-up over competitors like Salem, Massachusetts. Ward says, “We have three big parades, and sometimes that Grand Day Parade is the biggest parade in the five-state area, depending upon how the Aquatennial goes and how the Saint Paul Winter Carnival parade goes.” These will be the first Halloween-themed stamps issued by the Postal Services and ceremonies are set for September 29th in Anoka.
