President Trump is scheduled to visit Duluth one week from Wednesday (6/20) for a rally at the DECC Arena. It’s billed as a high-energy event to “promote the latest economic news for our surging economy” and talk about what Trump backers call his historic summit with North Korea’s leader. Carleton College analyst Steven Schier says Trump wants to “roil the waters and create controversy” and “frustrate Democrats who are already fighting among themselves” with a number of candidates in the primary election in the 8th. Schier says, “The 8th Congressional District in Minnesota is one of the very few districts in the whole country that looks like a real possibility of a Republican pick-up.” He says the Duluth visit indicates Trump will be back to Minnesota throughout the election season.
