Make insulin affordable for all Minnesotans living with diabetes, said advocates at today’s State Capitol roundtable convened by Governor Tim Walz. Quinn Nystrom with the group Minnesota Insulin for All says without better access, “People are going to die in the state of Minnesota. There’s no sugar-coating that. We will have more deaths in the state of Minnesota.”
An agreement fell apart in closing hours of the legislative session, activists say because insulin manufacturers don’t want to pay — but Walz says they must be part of the solution. “I’m not gonna set and watch people make obscene profits, shift the cost back to the taxpayers of Minnesota, and then walk away with that money too,” he says. Walz is calling on lawmakers to come together and agree on a bill which he says he’ll sign.
