Pro-choice advocates, GOP candidate for governor Johnson clash over Planned Parenthood funding

November 1, 2018 By Bill Werner

Pro-choice advocates are blasting Republican candidate for governor Jeff Johnson for saying he would sign a bill defunding Planned Parenthood.  “Jeff Johnson is thoroughly out-of-touch with Minnesotans and the critical health care needs of the people of this state,” says Tim Stanley with Planned Parenthood.  Johnson responds he’s a strong supporter of women’s health care.  “Let’s continue to spend all of that money — if it’s really about women’s health care, I am all for that,” Johnson says, “But let’s send it to places that don’t essentially fund most of the abortions in the state.”

Johnson is up against Democrat Tim Walz in next Tuesday’s election for Minnesota governor.
