Pro-choice advocates applaud Tina Smith becoming U-S senator while those on the other side of the abortion issue have concerns. Republican State Senator Karin Housley, who’s running for U-S Senate, labels Smith “a lifelong Democrat political operative” who as a Planned Parenthood executive pushed for “abortions at any cost.” Housley says, “I don’t think it does represent everyone in Minnesota and their values, so I think that’s something that she’s going to have to deal with, and how she does… that will all play out.” Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North and South Dakota C-E-O Sarah Stoesz says Smith has been “a strong voice for women’s health and rights” and will be “a bold leader… during this very difficult time.”
