Prosecutors say they’ll ask a judge to set “high bail” today for a man charged with the kidnapping and murder of a Minneapolis realtor on New Year’s Eve and the attempted murder of the woman’s boyfriend that same day. They allege early New Year’s Eve, 41-year-old Cedric Berry used a key to enter a north Minneapolis home and shot and wounded 28-year-old Monique Baugh’s boyfriend. Investigators say just over an hour later, Berry fatally shot Baugh in a north Minneapolis alley. Authorities say she got a call earlier that afternoon from someone who wanted to view a house in Maple Grove and was kidnapped at that location. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman calls Berry’s behavior “vicious” — saying the defendant assassinated Baugh at close range and shot at her boyfriend while in the same house with two small children.
