A public information meeting last night (Thurs) in Duluth after emerald ash borer was recently found in northeast Minnesota for the first time. Allen Sommerfeld with the state Ag Department says it was expected because emerald ash borer has been just across the border in Superior, Wisconsin for several years. There’s an ash wood quarantine in effect on Duluth’s Park Point. Sommerfeld says if emerald ash borer is found elsewhere in Duluth or Saint Louis County, they’ll look at expanding the quarantine.
