A decision could come later this week on whether Canadian-based Enbridge will be allowed to upgrade its “Line 3” pipeline through northern Minnesota. The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission took testimony last week from supporters and opponents of the controversial project and is scheduled to begin its deliberations in public Tuesday morning in Saint Paul. Some opponents have warned, if the P-U-C gives the go-ahead for the Line 3 upgrade, there could be violence like at Standing Rock, North Dakota over the Dakota Access pipeline. Governor Mark Dayton met privately with several tribal leaders and with a group of county sheriffs last week, and indicates he’ll continue talking this week with proponents and opponents of the proposed pipeline — but Dayton administration officials are giving little information on what those conversations entail.
