Purple is color of the day

April 22, 2016 By Minnesota News Network

target3(Undated)  —  The Minnesota Twins have illuminated Target Field in purple in honor of rock star Prince, who passed away yesterday.  The scoreboards, ribbon boards, and parking ramps have been lit in purple since last night.  Twins manager Paul Molitor is a Twin Cities native and said after yesterday’s game in Milwaukee that Prince meant a lot to the people of Minnesota.  Target Field sits just a block from the famed First Avenue, where thousands of fans gathered overnight at a block party to pay tribute to the fallen star.   Across the street from First Avenue, the Timberwolves lit the exterior of their new practice facility in purple.  The Vikings, Wolves, and Wild also have released statements thanking Prince for his involvement with the teams over the years.  In early 2010, Prince actually wrote an anthem for the Vikings titled “Purple and Gold,” as the team prepared for the N-F-C Title Game.
