Among many races in today’s (Tues) primary election, at least two are getting national attention. In the 5th Congressional District — Minneapolis and near suburbs — Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar faces a significant challenge from fellow Democrat Antone Melton-Meaux. Omar has frequently traded verbal exchanges with President Trump — who has also weighed-in on the 7th Congressional District race in western Minnesota to try to unseat long-time Democratic Congressman Collin Peterson. Trump endorsed Republican challenger, former Lieutenant Governor Michelle Fischbach — but the person the president endorsed two years ago, retired Air Force Major Dave Hughes, wants a third chance to run against Peterson and is challenging Fischbach in today’s primary.
