The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office is not filing charges in a fatal officer-involved shooting from March. John Choi announced today that he and his staff determined the deadly force used by two officers resulting in the death of 29-year-old Cordale Handy was justified. Officials say Handy was under the influence of drugs and pointed a gun at his girlfriend, firing 16 shots inside their apartment before encountering officers outside. The girlfriend and a friend told officers the gun was not loaded, but the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office determined there was no way the women or the officers could be sure that Handy didn’t reload the gun. It was later determined to be unloaded.
