Ramsey murder-suicide prompts plea from state lawmaker

April 26, 2016 By Bill Werner

As the investigation continues into an apparent domestic murder-suicide in Anoka County, state Senator Jim Abeler is urging women to “please listen to your friends when they say, don’t go home.”  Abeler says the woman who was killed returned home despite friends’ urging, and 15 minutes later she was dead. And Abeler is urging men in serious domestic conflict situations to “please go talk to somebody and get help. Talk to your friend. Admit that you need a friend. So maybe as horrible as this is, maybe somebody else can have it not happen to their family.”  Investigators say 41-year-old Bryce Monson shot his wife, 30-year-old Courtney Monson, multiple times with a semiautomatic handgun and then shot himself.”  Their children — ages 12, nine, three and two, are being cared for by family members.
