TIMBERWOLVES NOTES
Player Notes
• Julius Randle led the Timberwolves with a season-best and game-high 41 points on a season-high-tying 14-of-24 shooting and seven rebounds, marking his first 40+ point game of the season (12th career), his 10th 40+ point/5+ rebound game of his career and his first since doing so against the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 5, 2023 as a member of the New York Knicks (41 points and six rebounds).
• With 23 of Randle’s 41 points coming in the fourth quarter, he recorded the highest fourth quarter scoring performance of his career and his second-highest mark for any quarter. Tonight marked his first 20+ point quarter since March 30, 2023 vs. Minnesota when he posted a 26-point third quarter.
• Randle shot 58.3% (14-of-24) from the field tonight, marking his fourth shooting performance this season hitting at least 55.0% of 20+ attempts (35th career). This ties his second-most single season occurrences, matching his 2018-19 season total.
• Jaden McDaniels ended tonight’s contest with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting, six rebounds, a season-high tying and game-best six assists, two steals, and a game-high-tying two blocks. This performance marked his first 20+ point/5+ rebound/5+ assist/2+ steal/2+ block game of his career, becoming just the 14th player in Timberwolves history to record such a stat line. Additionally, tonight was his second 20+ point/5+ rebound/5+ assist showing of the season (fourth career).
• Rudy Gobert closed with 17 points, including hitting seven of his season-high-tying 10 free throw attempts to go along with eight rebounds, marking his 12th 15+ point/5+ rebound showing of the season (333rd career). By shooting 70.0% (7-of-10) from the line tonight, Gobert made 70.0+% of 10+ attempts for the second time this year (42nd career).
• In 23:49 minutes off the bench, Naz Reid recorded 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, seven rebounds and a game-high-tying two blocks, marking his eighth 10+ point/5+ rebound/2+ block performance of the season (49th career); he leads the NBA in such performances from the reserves this year.
Team Notes
• With the Timberwolves 133-109 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota has scored 130+ points in 12 games this season, tied with the Knicks for the fourth-most such games in the NBA. This is the secondhighest single-season total in franchise history, behind only the 2021-22 season’s 13 qualifying games.
• Minnesota now holds a .607 win percentage (34-22) heading into All-Star Weekend, the fifth-best record prior to the start of the All-Star break in franchise history.
• With Randle shooting 10-of-11 from the line and Gobert going 7-of-10 on his free throws, tonight was the second time this season that two Wolves took 10+ FTA (Jan. 16 at HOU; Randle: 11 FTA, Gobert: 10 FTA). Additionally, this is the eighth all-time such occurrence against Portland, with the most recent being
accomplished by Corey Brewer and Andrew Wiggins with 10 attempts each on Dec. 10, 2024.
