Enbridge’s controversial Line 3 pipeline upgrade through northern Minnesota is back on the Public Utilities Commission’s agenda next Tuesday in Saint Paul. Regulators will decide how to proceed with a “re-do” of the environmental impact statement for the proposed project, after the state Court of Appeals ruled that the effect of a possible oil spill on the Lake Superior watershed had not been adequately examined. Opponents say that and other risks will ultimately de-rail the project. Backers respond Line 3 has already had rigorous environmental review and ultimately will move forward. Tuesday morning’s meeting will be at the Senate Office Building, just across the street from the State Capitol.
