Renovated State Capitol grand opening set for August 11-13

June 13, 2017 By Bill Werner

Asian dancers in the Rotunda provided an extra splash of color today as officials announced the grand opening celebration for the newly-renovated Minnesota State Capitol will be August 11th through the 13th. Dozens of events are planned, including “behind the scenes” tours, a Prince dance party, fireworks and numerous performances. Governor Mark Dayton thanks Minnesotans for recognizing how important the State Capitol renovation is.  Dayton says, “I don’t recall ever getting a complaint from a single citizen at any point in this process about the project,… disruption or cost or anything else. People understood that this is all of our building and it’s all of our democracy.”
