(St. Paul, MN) — A Minnesota state lawmaker is proposing stricter criminal penalties for those who interfere with public safety personnel trying to render medical assistance. Republican Representative Pat Garofalo of Farmington says the “Public Safety Protection Act” would promote zero tolerance for anyone jeopardizing public safety. Garofalo says responders should not have to fear for their safety when they’re tending to a medical emergency.
