Republicans are again asking Governor Tim Walz to use emergency powers to allow health care professional licensed in other states to be immediately eligible to work in Minnesota. Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka says, “I think the unions are what’s holding that back, but I think even they would welcome, in a [COVID] surge, anybody coming from anywhere. And if it’s done as an executive order, it ends when this is all over.”
Governor Walz said earlier he’s open to looking at the issue, but the state must make sure health care professionals coming into Minnesota are qualified to do the work.
