Governor Tim Walz is continuing former Governor Mark Dayton’s legal challenge to the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline upgrade across northern Minnesota. House Republican Minority Leader Daudt accuses Walz of breaking campaign promises. “His first appeal has failed and now he wants to go to court to try to stop this project,” says Daudt.
Walz responds agencies will consider permit applications for the pipeline at the same time the courts decide whether it meets the requirements of state law. “Anybody trying to say that the timeline of potential construction of this has changed because of this, that’s not true,” says the governor.
Daudt responds Walz is trying to “play both sides” — tell opponents of Line 3 he’s with them, but ultimately the new pipeline will be built.
