Key Republicans and Democrats at the State Capitol seem to agree on increasing the tobacco buying age to 21 in Minnesota, but D-F-Lers also want to prohibit Internet sales of all tobacco and vaping products, plus ban all *flavored* e-cigarettes. Representative Alice Mann from Lakeville says, “We have an industry that is targeting our children with things like bubblegum-flavor vaping cartridges and sweatshirts with vaping mechanisms right in the hoodies.”
Republican Senator Carla Nelson from Rochester says she’ll bring a bill forward next year. “Banning flavors on vapes I think is essential. And whether it include tobacco or not, that is something that certainly I need to know more about.”
Tobacco giant Altria says it supports increasing the purchase age to 21, but isn’t commenting about bans on flavored products or Internet sales.
