Sen. Scott Newman (R-Hutchinson)
Republicans have made a significant concession to Governor Mark Dayton on a transportation funding bill, agreeing to allow Twin Cities counties to build light rail lines without legislative approval. Hutchinson Senator Scott Newman says they’re really trying to work with the governor. “I just want to encourage him to please take a real hard look at it, simply because I think the people in the state of Minnesota really do want a transportation bill,” says Newman. There’s no response yet from the Governor’s Office, but another sticking point will be a measure that would reorganize the Metropolitan Council to include elected positions.
